What is impacted tooth extraction and in what cases is it performed?

Impacted tooth extraction is a surgical procedure performed when a tooth is partially or completely trapped within the jawbone and cannot emerge normally. It is most commonly performed on impacted third molars (wisdom teeth). The goal is to safely remove the tooth that is pressing on the jaw or posing a risk of infection.
