Orthognathic surgery is a surgical procedure performed to correct congenital or acquired misalignments of the jaw bones. The upper jaw, lower jaw, or both are repositioned. The goal is to improve both aesthetic appearance and chewing and speech functions. It is usually planned in conjunction with orthodontic treatment.
