Is it necessary to extract all impacted wisdom teeth in the jaw before starting orthodontic treatment (braces)?

In orthodontic treatment planning, each patient’s jaw structure and tooth alignment are unique; therefore, extraction of impacted teeth is not a standard requirement for everyone. However, if there is insufficient space in the jaw for proper tooth alignment (severe crowding) or if the orthodontist plans to create space by pushing the back teeth backward (distalization), extraction of wisdom teeth becomes unavoidable. Furthermore, after treatment is complete and braces are removed, impacted tooth extraction is performed before or after treatment as a preventative measure in cases where the pressure exerted by erupting impacted teeth poses a risk of relapse (disruption) of the corrected front teeth.
